we are the Shire of Mountain Freehold

We are a part of the East Kingdom of the Society for Creative Anachronism. The SCA is a world-wide medieval re-enactment, re-creation, and historical research society. Please browse our website and find information on what we do, how we do it, how to join if you are so inclined, how to participate if you'd like to just try it out. Enjoy your reading.

Arts and Sciences

a herald

As mentioned, we do a lot of research to create our personae and to create our world. Some of this research and some of these articles are available at our Arts and Sciences page. These are mostly articles by and for Freeholders, though we do include other things. The Links Page is up and running.

For the New Folk

Our page for the new folk has some beginner's information, inlcuding who to talk to first, things you need in order to attend a feast or event, and instructions on signing up for the mailing and announcement lists.

Meetings, Gatherings, Practices

Visit the East Kingdom Events and Tourneys page to see the major happenings and the Local Meetings, Gatherings and Events page for the local periodic gatherings. Finally, our Archery and Fighting Practice Schedules and Notes.

History

For the curious, we present a History of Mountain Freehold (By Duchess Marieke). Members are encouraged to add their memories of events and occurances.

Officers

Blind Man's Bluff

If you are searching for someone in charge, or simply looking for the right person to answer a question, our Officers page should be helpful. All other members of the Freehold are listed on the Domesday List, with e-mail links and other contact information. (That's not all of us, of course. A few didn't want to be listed.)

Pictures

We all take pictures and some of them are on-line. Lady Alice has many of them in her Photo Album. Send new submissions to Lady Alice.

In the meantime, you can see some of my photos here ... in the Slideshow. Fair warning to all those on dial-up: most images are between 40KB and 80KB and may take a while to download.

!! Pennsic !!

Pennsic 2007 photos are at the old photos page. Pennsic 2008 photos are at wordfame.org. (All of my old photos will be transferred there in the coming weeks, as well.)
