Gatherings and Practices

All the times we get together, whether it be in garb or not, as a persona or as our mundane selves. Events are not listed here. Some events are listed on the events page. Events from around the East can be seen on the East Kingdom Events Page. Visit this page with your appointment calendar ready!

Moots and Business Meetings

Our last moot (major business meeting) was in July. We're not sure when the next one will be; we usually have them yearly, or when the seneschal says we need one.

Gatherings

We have monthly "gatherings" at various locations to discuss plans and schemes, with the intent of making the Freehold a more active and interesting shire. These informal meeting are also a good place for newcomers to make themselves known and find out what's going on. For information about Gatherings in general, contact Lady Sealey: sealey@mountainfreehold.org. It's not mandatory to attend the Gatherings and there is no need to RSVP. Just show up if you want to and if you can't make it, whoever takes minutes will be posting them to the list so everyone can find out what was discussed. A Gathering is not an official moot, but simply a good way for members of the Shire to get together and brainstorm. The next Freehold Gathering is listed on the Signpost

Archery Practice

We have several eager archers in the Freehold, ranging from "beginner" to "reasonably competent." Winter practice at the indoor Pelkey's Range in St. Albans was fun and useful. Now that the weather's nicer, we're hoping to hold outdoor archery practices this spring and summer. At the moment, the location and further details are under negotiation.

Local Fighter Practice (Heavy)

We have two locations for fighting practice.

Warren Practice: On the second and fourth Sundays of the month, from 1 p.m. to whenever, practice takes place at the Warren Elementary School. For information and directions, contact Lord Bertrand at (802) 496-3774 or cb3cats@aol.com.

Johnson Practice: On the other Sundays (first, third, and sometimes the fifth if there is one that month), we fight at Johnson State College. These practices start at noon. For information, contact Lord Tyrvold at (802) 635-7674 or tyrvold@yahoo.com. Directions from the Burlington area: Head up on Route 15 towards Johnson. When you get into the bustling metropolis of Johnson (heh!) turn left at the corner with Ryan Books on one side (red book store) and the Masonic Lodge on the other (HUGE white building). You'll go over a wee bridge and pass a red building on the right. Stay straight up this road (go on up the hill), then turn right at a sign that says "Johnson College Apartments." Stay on this road and veer to the right and you'll be heading towards a parking lot. Park in that lot - it is the parking lot to the gym (called the SHAPE Facility). They'll be in the gym.

We are also invited to attend the Panther Vale practice in Morrisville on Tuesday evenings, 5 pm.. to dark. For directions and more information, contact Gavin von Abendroth (Adam Strong) at: adam@damstrong.com or 888-1715

Freehold Cooks!

Lady Skya has organized monthly meetings for people who want to improve their medieval cooking skills and knowledge. Each meeting will focus on one type of cooking. It might be baking, sauces, or desserts, or something completely different. For more information, contact skya@rowangrove.com. There's also a Yahoo! group for discussions between meetings. You can sign up here: Freehold Cooks! Yahoo!Group.
