august Gathering
Greetings from Marieke!

Our August Freehold gathering will be held on a Sunday, but we haven't yet chosen the exact date. The Gathering will be held concurrently with the fighting practice at the Patchen Road Park in South Burlington. We'll meet at noon and stay until 3:30 or so. Feel free to bring picnic-ish foods to share (there's a picnic table there we can use). The fighters will enjoy having a larger audience, and they can mingle during their breaks. For the non-fighters, wear garb if you feel like it. This is by no means meant to be a demo, but since we're gathering in a public space, it might be a nice opportunity for non-combattants to catch the eye of passers-by, just as the fighters have been doing.

(Our monthly Gathering is where members meet to discuss what is happening in the Shire and to toss around ideas for future activities. Attendance is never required, no official voting takes place, and a summary of what took place at a Gathering is always posted on the Freehold Listserv in order that those who were not in attendance can be aware of what transpired.)

summer Fighting Practice in Burlington!
Summer Fighting Practices will be held in South Burlington on Sundays (when it's not raining, and when there's not a major event elsewhere) from noon until whenever. The location is Patchen Park on Patchen Road. There are portolets, and a picnic shelter, free parking, and picnic tables available. Nonfighters are welcome to attend as well.

Directions: Heading East on Williston Road, as far as the traffic light at Al's French Frys. Be in the left lane for that turn and you'll get a green arrow. Turn onto the slanted road (White Street) and go past the Merchant's Bank. At the light, turn left. The park will be a short distance on your left.

For information, call Tyrvold, (802) 730-4603.

update your Domesday entry
Now that Alaxandr has given us new capabilities on our Domesday page, let's take advantage of them! We can embellish our bare entries with persona stories, our skills and abilities, even our portraits, and images of our devices. Put yourself out there! New people who are joining our group will find these photos especially helpful, since we all know how hard it is to connect names and faces at first. But even old friends might be amused to see you in your latest fancy garb!

To add to your entry, you'll need to get a user name and password from Alaxandr. Once you've got that, you will be able to edit your Domesday entry. Another capability your password gives you is that you will be able to post announcements on this Signpost page.
